If Waldo Led America

Trying to find anything around here is like searching for Waldo in those books! Maybe if our leaders had searched harder for solutions, we could have averted this disaster.

Puzzle Notes:

  • A draw-on puzzle image is available below the poem. To view a static image instead, click here.
  • The unusual "poison ham" decor on the pirate ship is a hallmark of our exceptional artist Eamon Hill; it is not important to the puzzle.
  • Due to the United States' unique geography, exact placement may be slightly off for some items in the picture. If you find yourself asking whether something is or isn't in the right place, it probably is: any intentional misplacements would be significant and easy to spot.

If Waldo Led America

(A parody, with apologies to Martin Handford)

This country needs a leader Who is noble, kind, and bold, Of legendary stature, Who appeals to young and old; A leader who can rally All Americans behind him. And I know who that leader is… That is, if we can find him!

If Waldo led America,

In cities A to Z: · Pro football teams would let their fans   watch all the games for free, · And NBA and NHL teams   (Both together) would   Play all games free of charge for people   In their neighborhood, · While likewise all the baseball teams   Within the Major League,   Would play for all their fans for free   With no sign of fatigue!

Meanwhile, in states from A to Z: · The locals would explore   Landmarks no one had never seen   In those locales before!

From west to east (or east to west): · Waldo and all his friends   Would join together helping people   Learn to make amends.

In states from Z to A (we like   To shake things up a bit): · No matter their official nickname,   Waldo’d be a hit!

His drawn-out plans for our success (If followed to the letter) Will prompt cartographers to cheer, “Could anyone be better?”
